What is a Field Technician II?

Most of us know that a field technician attends to things like machinery installation and repair. Yet, few people realize the classifications to which field technicians adhere. In general terms though, a technician with a higher class has more knowledge.

While a field technician IV will oversee any technical project, then, a field technician II will perform skilled and semi-skilled jobs for the smooth running of machines for anything from IT to telecommunication purposes.

General Responsibilities

The role of a field technician II can vary depending on the job. Some general responsibilities include -

Technician Outlook

With technology forever advancing, there’s certainly no risk of field technician jobs becoming obsolete. Despite a slight dip in the requirement of things like installation, the increasing use of systems like the Internet of Things means that field technicians should soon see rising levels of business.

That said, the low-level start-up requirements of field technician jobs mean that this is a hot industry. The market is somewhat saturated, and many companies are looking to large and trusted field technician suppliers as a result.

Freelancers are also seeing real success in this industry right now thanks to a desire for fast service which many larger corporations can’t offer. By accepting jobs both on a one-to-one basis and through contractors, then, freelance field technicians are seeing a real boost in income.

Salary

According to salary.com, field technician II can currently expect to earn around $47,090-$58,490 when they are working full-time, dependent on education and experience. Factors like location and competition within an area also have significant standing on income.

This is something which freelancers can quickly get around by traveling a little further to attend jobs. Freelance field technicians also have the benefit of controlling how many jobs they accept to boost income further, meaning that they could earn much more over time.
