What is the PMP Certification Path?

To earn a credible Project Management Certification, you must have the following qualifications:

  • PgMP: A secondary degree, high school diploma, or associate degree; sixty months of experience in project management; thirty-five hours in ORCAPM certification. An alternative is to have a four-year degree with thirty-six months of project management experience within eight years.
  • PfMP: Every applicant should have a minimum of ninety-six months of professional business experience within the past fifteen years. A secondary degree or eighty-four months of experience in portfolio management.
  • CAPM: A secondary degree (i.e., associate degree, high school diploma, or any comparable global equivalent). Twenty-three hours of project management education (by the time you sit for the exam, the number of hours must be completed).
  • PMI-RMP: Twenty-four months of project risk management experience in the past five years; a four-year Bachelor’s degree, and thirty hours of experience in project risk management education.
  • PMI-SP: A secondary degree or four-year degree; forty hours’ education in project scheduling and another forty months 40 months’ experience in the same, within the last five years.
  • PMI-ACP: Twelve months of experience in broad project involvement in the last five years; a four-year bachelor’s degree (or equivalent); eight months’ experience in agile project management in the past three years. If you possess a current PMP or PgMP, both can meet this requirement.
  • PMI-PBA: Thirty-six months of business analysis; a Bachelor’s degree (or global equivalent), thirty-five contact hours of business analysis education.
