Job Description & Responsibilities

The Data Center Build Technician must rack, build, cable and set up the Intel and AMD servers. They play an important role in the deployment of Cisco Layer 2 networking equipment. The Technician should have the ability to perform various operating system installation such as Windows Server, Linux, and Unix. They should have an in-depth understanding of PC Hardware concepts and component installation.

The professional job involves Cisco Layer 2 networking equipment. They must have a good knowledge of various internet-related services and software such as mail, web, DNS, etc. The technician should be prepared to multitask in a fast-paced environment and must have a customer-focused attitude. The Data Center Build Technician has to be well-versed with computer networking concepts.

The Technician should take care of the Network wiring as part of the job. The Data Center Build Technician will work with the cutting edge server technologies and resolve the diverse Data Center technical impairments. They are the driving force behind the launching of new network capacity at the local Data Center level. The Technician should have the capability to efficiently and effectively install the infrastructure. They must be well-versed with the computers, servers, switches and several other networking devices from both hardware and software.

The Data Center Build Technician must act as the technical point of contact for the internal teams. The professionals must conduct process improvement as and when necessary.  The Technicians should work in collaboration with the supporting teams to get the common failures resolved or minimized. It is the duty of the Data Center Build Technician to carry out hardware verification inspections to make sure the quality of server racks, networking devices, and associated components are maintained.

The professional will provide technical assistance to the Deployment Technicians with rack deployments on heavy deployment days or cabling team. The Data Center Build Technician have to plan and organize work assignments independently. They should always perform operational duties under the guidance of superiors. The Technician has to assist in general maintenance and operation of buildings and grounds.

It is the responsibility of the Data Center Build Technician to set up, manage, operate and resolve any issues related to mechanical and electrical equipment or systems. The Technician should look into the technical problems of electrical switchgear, diesel generators, HVAC/CRAC systems, UPS systems, PDUs, RPPs, BMS/EPMS systems, and fire alarm and suppression systems. The professional must ensure that the operation of systems is following the required regulations and codes.

The Technician has to examine and evaluate any equipment by using instrumentation. They are responsible for organizing skilled maintenance activities which includes construction, welding, soldering, and plumbing, but are not limited to them. The Data Center Build Technician will test the electronic HVAC and building environmental controls to make sure the equipment is working correctly. They have to check and resolve problems of valves, and motors to assure proper functioning of the equipment and systems.

The Data Center Build Technicians carry out all duties as per the established work standards. They should have the capability to perform the role of the Stationary Operating Engineer in a large facility. The professional must follow the rules and policies as per the Company standards of business ethics and conduct.

The Data Center Build Technician must have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Electronics & Electricals or any other related field.
