IP Network Engineers design, implement and maintain a company or organization’s IP Ethernet network. It is their responsibility to develop tools to manage the network. They provide all necessary technical assistance to operation groups around the clock as needed.

The IP Network Engineer researches developing standards for an organization’s network configuration. They must also produce documentation of the existing network topology as well as possible new technologies for use by engineering and operations. It is the duty of the IP Network Engineer to conduct technical activities such as technical audits and service migrations.

The professionals should work in collaboration with the lab personnel and take care of the deployment of the new equipment. They must make sure that network equipment is properly installed and is in perfect working condition. The IP Network Engineer has to operate independently while at customer locations. They must have an in-depth understanding of testing requirements and execution of appropriate test cases. The professional has an important role to design and develop new network infrastructure. The professionals must make the sure proper deployment of equipment. The IP Network Engineer has to evaluate the existing network and high-level scope to develop and issues detailed plans and instructions. They must perform audits and data cleaning activities. It is the IP Network Engineer who issues instructions for site surveys.

The IP Network Engineer is responsible for the core device implementation and ongoing support.  They have to take care of the internal peer review of changes and device hardware, software maintenance and upgrades. The Network Engineer provides for the stable functioning of the IP network that supports Data Center managed and hosted services. This professional also manages the upgrading and modification of the IP network to satisfy services growth and expansion. They also research the development of IP networking support for new network services.

The IP Network Engineer will take care of the SLA management and carry on the incident and problem analysis. They must offer all the necessary support to the operations functions and processes. The professionals have to provide assistance with customer, services and technical troubleshooting processes. It is the IP Network Engineer who take care of the implementation of the IP and MPLS. They handle network changes and other additional tasks.

The professional will create designs for network upgrades and plays an important role in the policies and procedures for capacity and performance management. They provide technical assistance to other department engineers. The IP Network Engineer will handle issues related to performance analysis, recurring system maintenance, systems troubleshooting. They will have good knowledge about new technology, product evaluation, POC testing & development projects.

It is the IP Network Engineer who is responsible for configuration and management of  the edge network. They have to develop and use the Network Management tools. The professional takes care of the Tier 3 network and services support for operations. The IP Network Engineer oversees the capacity management and up gradation of program management. Additional responsibilities include the following.

  • Operate and maintain the IP network delivering IP data, voice and video to an assigned customer access network.
  • Ensure IP network support of new and existing services and features.
  • Extend all the necessary support for the second and third-tier escalations for all operational outages in IP network.
  • Offer engineering solutions based on a thorough understanding of Data Network architecture, topology and other configuration details.
  • Escalate problems quickly with thorough troubleshooting of all IP network issues.
  • Maintain a record of engineering solutions, such as detailed engineering requirements, detailed reference design, and detailed integration test plan documents.
  • Conduct high-quality and comprehensive lab tests to prove the viability of proposed engineering solutions.
  • Use system, security, and network monitoring tools.
  • Possess experience in scripting network automation tools.

Education Qualifications

This position requires a bachelor’s degree in computer science, electronics, and telecommunication. Having relevant work experience provides an added advantage. Interested candidates can also pursue a master’s degree in a related field to enhance their employment prospects.
